A small percentage of people seem to change their lives with positive affirmations. So what are they doing right, and what are the rest of us doing wrong?

Truck loads of books have been written on the power of positive thinking and saying positive affirmations to attract what we want in our lives. Every year it seems there is a new slant on this and a new best seller.

One of the biggest messages that comes out in most of these books is that it is not enough to just say an affirmation. You have to believe it is possible that what you are affirming can actually come to you.

Therein lies the tricky bit and probably why most of us remain without our desires being fulfilled.

How You Feel is Your Barometer for Measuring Your Success

When we are feeling good we can draw great things to ourselves effortlessly. This is because when we are happy we are naturally positive. We are connecting with our source: that part of ourselves where all the good stuff happens, and where we can powerfully create whatever we desire.

If we say an affirmation and genuinely feel great as we are saying it, and stay feeling great afterwards, we must also believe that we can have whatever it is we are hoping to manifest. Otherwise we would have that niggely doubt feeling creeping in and sabotage what we have just affirmed.

But how do we stay feeling good? It's not an easy thing to do if our past experiences have led us to believe that it is difficult for us to have what we most deeply desire.

Gratitude is the Key to an Improved Feeling Level

A good way to change how you feel almost instantly is to introduce gratitude into your life. The minute you begin to put your attention on the many good things you already have in your life, and say thank you for them and really mean it, you cannot help but feel good. And as you feel good, more great things will begin to show up in your life.

If you're having a bad day, or you think you are, you may find it hard to be grateful for what you have. But stop for a minute and consider all the things you just take for granted. Even the smallest things such as being able to eat nourishing food, drink pure water and have a roof over your head and a comfortable bed to sleep in at night. There are plenty of people on the planet who long for the things to be in their lives that we just take for granted. They don't even have the essentials for survival as human beings.

Give Thanks for Your Most Cherished Desires

You don't have to limit your gratitude statements to what you already have. You can give thanks for what you would like to attract in your life as if you already have it. If you've been seeking financial independence, instead of saying an affirmation like 'I am now financially free,' which may be hard to believe when you cannot even pay your electricity bill. Try saying something like 'Thank you so much for my new found financial abundance. I am so grateful for all the funds that are now flowing regularly into my bank account with such ease and grace. I can now so easily pay all my bills and I am so enjoying my life of financial freedom. I am so deeply grateful for this financial abundance. Thank you so much.'

How could you not feel good after saying that and putting your attention on it.

Try listing everything you have in your life that you could be grateful for and give thanks repeatedly during the day. The minute you begin to feel bad about anything, use this technique and watch the magic begin to happen in your life.

Happy manifesting.
