In her great wisdom Mother nature chose the powerful and warm colour Orange to bring out a sense of fun, optimism, lightness and laughter into our world. It’s also a colour that represents a growing towards a higher spiritual state of being. In some spiritual traditions those who work closely with a Holy woman or man, wear orange robes as a sign of their level of spiritual development.
Although we may not always be consciously aware of why we choose to have a particular colour around us more than another colour, on a sub-conscious level we seem to be tuned in.
If you think about the people you know who wear orange, you will probably discover that more often than not they are natural extroverts and often highly creative people who think quickly and have a sense of fun and good humour.
Orange in Chakras and Auras
Those who study auras on people say that the colour orange indicates the state of our emotions and reproductive organs. It’s a colour of vitality, vigor and good health. It can also indicate the strength of appetite and addictions.
Chakra is a Sanskrit word meaning ‘wheel’. There are seven chakras in the human body and their purpose is to support the flow of energy throughout the body. It has been said that when a person is unaware of the aspects that come with a particular chakra, that chakra is weaker or even dormant.
Each chakra has a particular colour associated with it starting with the first chakra of red at the base of the spine and progressing up the body to orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and finally the seventh very spiritual chakra of violet above the crown of the head.
The orange chakra is the second chakra and it is also known as the Sacral chakra or Svadhisthana. It is located beneath the naval and is linked to the sexual organs and reproductive system. It also governs creativity and emotional energy. If this chakra is in balance and fully open it frees up fertility and creativity and the emotions will be in balance and we relate well to those around us. It is always active in everyone and gives us an understanding of how our actions affect others.
Zinnia Flower Essence Makes Us Laugh
It’s interesting to note that the properties of the colour of a flower are often also experienced when a person takes a flower essence of a particular colour. The bright orange zinnia flower when made into a flower essence to be taken internally, helps a person to find more joy, creativity and optimism in their life and encourages a sense of playfulness and laughter.
According to Patricia Kaminsky and Richard Katz in their book ‘The Flower Essence Repertory' “Zinnia flower essence brings the soul quality of humor to one’s humanness, teaching that the soul who is in “good spirits” is truly on a balanced spiritual path.”
In the Hawaiian Flower Essences the Orange Bird of Paradise Flower essence is said to bring about a transformation and a movement from the mundane to the divine. It also welcomes a lighter feeling and helps with many deep seated emotional issues including self doubt, co-dependence, abandonment, grief, fears, shame, vulnerability and stress.
Orange For a New Lease on Life
Since the colour orange stimulates enthusiasm and joy, and exploration of new things it’s a good colour to have around if you want to charge yourself with positive energy to start something new. The colour orange also brings the endurance needed for starting a long term project. And if it’s a creative project more the better as orange helps to stimulate creativity.
Orange also stimulates the mind so is useful to have around if you are learning new things and want to be able to pick things up quickly. And it’s been said that people who like orange are also thoughtful and sincere. Wearing Orange can also help to balance the emotions after a shock or trauma.
Given all its positive qualities no wonder Frank Sinatra once said “Orange is the happiest colour.”
