We've all had times in our lives when we've been strongly drawn to having a particular colour around us. Perhaps this is because on some deep level we need the vibration of this colour to heal us.
Yellow is a warm, cheerful and friendly colour rich with a curious and creative energy. It has a stimulating effect and relates to ego and intellect. It's about our sense of self worth and our perception of the way others see us. It's also a colour that positively vibrates with joy, happiness, fun and laughter. Well it is the colour of the sun after all, and it's hard to find anyone who scowls when the sun is shining.
Yellow Uplifts and Helps Creative Expression
It's hard to be depressed when we're surrounded by this cheerful colour. And for those who get sad and miserable in winter, try adding more yellow to life. It can also help bring a positive change of mind if we're feeling victimized, and it instills a state of abundance, wisdom, joy, enthusiasm and optimism. It also helps us to feel more courageous, self confident and enpowered.
When we're studying something and having problems concentrating or absorbing what we are reading, wearing something yellow, or having the colour around us in some way can assist as this colour aids memory and concentration. It also helps us to become more logical and have the willpower to focus on a task at hand.
Yellow brings creativity, expansion and freedom of expression. So it can be useful for artistic projects. Especially when what we are attempting to do is somewhat experimental. Yellow brings the concentration, focus and courage to creatively express ourselves in a way that is true to ourselves. It can also help us to adjust happily to big changes in our lives.
Yellow and the Solar Plexus Chakra
Chakras are wheels of energy that look after particular parts of the body and yellow relates to the Solar Plexus chakra which is also known as Manipura in Sanskrit. This chakra takes care of the liver, spleen, stomach and small intestine.
When the Solar Plexus chakra is not functioning properly we can become fearful, bitter, resentful, vindictive, angry, hateful, shameful and prejudiced. By having more yellow around or by wearing yellow stones such as Citrine, Amber or Yellow Sapphire, the positive qualities of this colour can help to balance the chakra so we begin to feel more positive, cheerful, motivated and good humoured.
Too Much or Too Little Yellow
If we overdose on yellow we can develop the inability to focus, or complete one task at a time, and even become critical and demanding. Too much yellow can encourage a workaholic and perfectionist tendency and a judgmental nature. It can even cause us to become more stubborn and make it harder for us to relax.
When we don't have enough yellow in our lives we can feel isolated and develop low self esteem, lack courage and the ability to try new things, and even become insecure and depressed. Not enough yellow can bring a vindictive nature and a habit of blaming others when things do not go our way. Other symptoms of not enough yellow are a rigid, cunning and possessive nature and a tendency to be defensive and emotionally aloof.
The Physical and Spiritual Effects of Yellow
Our physical bodies can benefit from yellow as it balances metabolism, calms the digestive system, helps the pancreas and liver and can even improve skin conditions such as eczema.
Yellow is all about empowering us with a strong sense of self. It promotes personal power, courage and transformation to a more spiritual way of being as this colour is also about the elimination of ego. Perhaps this is why yellow gold is often associated with spirituality and things of a sacred and even magical nature.
Yellow Gold is associated with wealth. Not just having more money but a wealth of wisdom and knowledge leading to a state of enlightenment. It's interesting that the Buddha is often depicted in Gold to symbolize absolute perfection and enlightenment.
When we consider all the miraculous properties this colour brings us no wonder the sun that lights our world and enables us to live on this planet is yellow.
